On Thursday 16 December 2021, the SMART HERITAGE Training Workshop for the Web Platform on the Cultural Routes was held in Chalkida, Evia Greece at the Conference Center of the Regional Unit Evia. The Workshop was hosted by the Development Agency of Evia SA.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Workshop was hosted both in-person and virtually via ZOOM. A total of 34 people participated in the Workshop (10 people in person & 24 virtually). The Development Agency of Evia SA (Lead Partner) was responsible for the organisation and conduction of the Workshop as well as for the drafting of guidelines and instructions to the Partners.

The Web Platform workshop was a unique opportunity for all the Partners to present the applications created to showcase their digitalised assets and the 3D Technologies/Holograms tested because of the SMART HERITAGE Project. All Partners agreed that SMART HERITAGE Project came at the right time, as due to Covid-19 the use of new technologies that allow visitors to virtually experience a place seems to be the future in a meta Covid-19 era.

In addition, during the Workshop, the Lead Partner conducted a training session on the SMART HERITAGE Web Platform and how it could be a powerful tool for the local stakeholders and partners involved in order to promote their destination and attract more visitors.

The highlight of the training session was that the participants got the chance to test the VR Technology in real-time and to take a virtual tour and explore Evia and “Hercules” Cultural Route (http://herculesroute.smartheritage.eu/).
